Youth Leadership
Youth engage as decision-makers in their schools and community through opportunities supported by the Network. An annual Beacons Leadership Retreat builds leadership skills, a sense of common identity, and sets the annual agenda for community action. Youth advisory boards at each Center feed into a city-wide Beacons Leadership Team and youth contribute to quality assessment and program design.
At Beacons we help the community and our classroom. |

[Family/Partner/Community Engagement]
[Beacons brings to the school] expanded ways for students to be seen, connected, and engaged - as BIPOC youth, as learners, and kids who look for extended and meaningful ways to be part of something bigger than themselves. |
Program Highlights
The thing I like the most is that it beats the stigma of the atmosphere that it's not cool to be a "Nerd" -- Beacons is a place to go and 'geek out', students get extra time with people that they would like to associate with and be drama free.
